Meta ad rejections
Facebook ad rejected for prohibited content
This is the one category where the product, not the wording, is the problem. Meta bans the advertised thing itself. Weapons and parts, tobacco and vaping, recreational drugs and paraphernalia, adult products, and unsafe supplements all sit here. No rewrite reaches approval because the copy was never the issue.
What Meta’s notice says
What triggers it
- 01The product is on Meta's prohibited list, regardless of how it is described
- 02The landing page sells a prohibited item even when the ad itself looks clean
- 03Accessories and parts count: holsters and magazines are treated as weapons
- 04CBD and some supplements are treated as prohibited in many regions
Before and after
Any copy advertising a prohibited product.
No rewrite reaches approval.
Time spent rewording here is wasted. The decision point is the product and the channel, not the ad.
How to fix it
- –Confirm the product is genuinely on the prohibited list rather than the restricted one. Restricted categories can run with the right setup; prohibited ones cannot.
- –If it is prohibited, stop rewriting and change channel. Search, native, email, affiliate, and influencer routes all take products Meta will not.
- –Advertise a compliant adjacent product and sell the restricted one after the click, where policy permits.
- –Repeated attempts to run prohibited products put the whole ad account at risk. That cost is usually larger than the campaign.
Not caught by a copy scan
Preflight does not flag this, because it reads copy and the problem is the product. Policy Servo escalates this category to a human instead of attempting a rewrite.
Policy Servo does not attempt an automatic rewrite for this category. A rewrite cannot fix it, so it goes to a human instead.

Will appealing work?
Not if the product is genuinely prohibited. Appeals help when the classifier misread a compliant product, which does happen. Appeal once, then move on.
Can I run it from a second ad account?
No. Meta links accounts, and running prohibited products across accounts is what turns a rejected ad into a disabled business manager.
