Meta ad rejections
Facebook ad rejected for engagement bait
Meta blocks ads that ask for engagement as the action. Asking people to like, comment, share, tag someone, or vote in order to receive something is the pattern. The policy exists because that behaviour games ranking, so it is enforced consistently.
What Metaβs notice says
What triggers it
- 01"Like if you agree", "Comment YES below", "Share to enter"
- 02Tag-a-friend mechanics, including giveaways built on them
- 03"Type 1 for the link" and similar comment-gated offers
- 04Voting or polling framing used to drive reactions
Before and after
Comment YES below and we'll send you the guide!
Get the guide.
Move the action off the post and onto the click. The lead is better anyway.
Tag a friend who needs this π
Know someone who would use this? Send it to them.
Asking for a share as the ad's goal is the trigger. Suggesting it in passing is not.
How to fix it
- βReplace the engagement ask with a click action: Learn more, Get the guide, Shop now.
- βRebuild giveaway mechanics around a landing page entry rather than comments and tags.
- βKeep the offer. Only the requested action has to change.
Not caught by a copy scan
Preflight does not currently carry engagement-bait patterns, so this one is checked by hand or caught by Triage after Meta rejects the ad.

Can I run a giveaway on Meta ads at all?
Yes, if entry happens on your own page rather than through likes, comments, tags, or shares.
Does this apply to organic posts too?
Organic posts are not rejected, but they are demoted in ranking for the same behaviour.
