Meta ad rejections
Facebook ad rejected for unauthorized brand usage
Meta restricts how its own brands appear in ads, and enforces other companies' trademarks on request. Agencies hit this constantly, because describing the service accurately means naming the platform.
What Meta’s notice says
What triggers it
- 01"Facebook Ads" or "Instagram Ads" in a headline, which is the most common cause by far
- 02Meta, Facebook, or Instagram logos in the creative
- 03Wording that implies partnership or endorsement: "official", "certified", "partner"
- 04Another brand's name used in comparison copy without permission
- 05Lower-case or altered spellings used to slip past the check, which reads as evasion
Before and after
We run Facebook Ads for home service businesses.
We run paid social campaigns for home service businesses.
The generic term is safe and costs nothing in clarity.

How to fix it
- –Replace platform names with generic terms: paid social, social advertising, social media campaigns.
- –Remove platform logos from the creative.
- –Drop any word implying endorsement unless you hold the actual partnership.
- –Do not disguise the spelling. That escalates this into circumventing systems.
Not caught by a copy scan
Preflight does not currently carry brand-usage patterns. Triage catches it from the rejection reason and Rewrite handles the wording.

Can I ever say Facebook in an ad?
In limited cases, in body copy, following Meta's brand guidelines, never in a way implying endorsement. Avoiding it entirely is simpler and costs nothing.
Can I name a competitor?
Usually yes, if the comparison is factual and substantiated. Trademark holders can still report it, and Meta tends to act on the report.
