Meta ad rejections
Facebook ad rejected with no clear reason
Meta sometimes returns a generic policy message with no category. The cause is almost always one of the specific policies, just unnamed. Working through them in likelihood order is faster than appealing blind.
What Meta’s notice says
What triggers it
- 01A classifier fired with low confidence, so no specific reason was attached
- 02Several small issues combined rather than one clear breach
- 03The landing page rather than the ad, which often reports generically
- 04Account history influencing review of an otherwise fine ad
Before and after
"Your ad does not comply with our advertising policies."
Work through the categories in order: personal attributes, misleading claims, landing page, then formatting.
Personal attributes and misleading claims account for most unlabelled rejections.
How to fix it
- –Scan the copy against all policies at once rather than guessing which one fired.
- –Check the landing page next. It is the most common cause of a generic rejection.
- –Remove second-person language about the reader and any number attached to a promise. Those two changes clear most unlabelled cases.
- –If several ads in one campaign were rejected together, look at what they share rather than at each ad.
Partly caught before launch
Preflight runs every rule it has against the copy at once, which is the fastest way to find an unnamed cause. It cannot check your landing page or your account history.

Is it worth appealing a generic rejection?
Yes, appeals do better here than on named policies, because low-confidence classifier decisions are the ones most often reversed. Fix the likely causes first, then appeal.
Can I see the real reason anywhere?
The Account Quality page sometimes carries more detail than the ad-level notice. The API's issues_info field occasionally returns a more specific summary than the interface shows.
